On June 6th, Institute of Global Nursing Otemae University hosted the "gLOCAL Solution Room 2026 Online Seminar," which was attended by approximately 40 nursing professionals, including clinical practitioners.
First, Professor Naoko Nishimura, Director of the JBI Otemae Implementation Center, explained JBI's activities and approach to on-site improvement. Following that, Dr. Shiho Ishijima (Chiba University Hospital) shared the process of planning, implementing, and continuing a clinical fall prevention project, the challenges encountered during implementation, and the growth of staff members gained through the project's implementation.
Next, Dr. Marina Taniguchi (Hayaseki Hospital, Hayaseki Medical Corporation) explained the details of the project regarding the evaluation of patients with delirium, and how she involved staff who were previously difficult to get to cooperate, including the strategies she employed.
In the panel discussion, Professor Nishimura, Professor Yuri Kasamatsu (Otemae University), Dr. Ishijima, and Dr. Taniguchi exchanged opinions on the impact of the project. Responses indicated that not only patient outcomes but also a change in staff awareness was observed, and participants asked questions such as how to review outdated care practices and translate them into improvements in practice. In the subsequent group discussion, participants shared clinical dilemmas and difficulties.
Nursing may be an act that is often taken for granted and rarely acknowledged by others. However, this was a time to reaffirm that each individual's daily nursing practice is what truly transforms the workplace, and that our small steps are crucial actions that can lead to a significant impact.
