A 7-inch record adapter designed by Seira Yoshida, a fourth-year student in the Takagi Maito Laboratory Faculty of Architecture & Arts was exhibited at the Shirokuma Co., Ltd. booth at "Architecture & Building Materials Exhibition Osaka 2026," held at Intex Osaka on July 2nd and 3rd.

This project is an industry-academia collaboration that brings students' own "wants" to life with the technical cooperation of Shirokuma Co., Ltd., an Architecture hardware manufacturer in Osaka. Shirokuma is an Architecture hardware manufacturer that also manufactures and sells audio equipment such as speakers and amplifiers, possessing both metalworking technology and expertise in sound.

The exhibit this time is a 7-inch record adapter conceived by Mr. Yoshida, who also works as a hip-hop DJ, based on his own practical experience. The aim was to achieve both an easy-to-grip shape for quick handling during DJing and stable sound quality for listening. High precision machining through brass cutting suppresses record centering and rotational wobble, reducing sound fluctuations and achieving stable playback.

This initiative, which connects students' learning in Architecture and product design with their individual interests, physical sensations, and musical culture, and presents these ideas to society as tangible products through corporate technology, is an example of the practical design education that our Faculty of Architecture & Arts emphasizes.
