[Community Contribution] Nishinomiya City Collaboration Project: Miyazumi Junior "Theater Workshop" Held

At the Nishinomiya Shukugawa Campus, we held a "Theater Workshop (Instructor: Professor Masao Seguchi Faculty of Architecture & Arts)" as part of the "Miyamizu Junior" program, a collaborative project with Nishinomiya City.

Approximately 20 local elementary school students, who were on summer break, participated in this workshop. Over the course of four days, they learned the basics of simple acting, and on the final day, they divided into groups to present their results.

Students from Professor Seguchi's seminar in Faculty of Architecture & Arts participated in the lectures as support staff. The children were a little nervous on the first day, but through the students' careful guidance and hands-on programs, they gradually relaxed, and it was very impressive to see them enjoying expressing themselves more vividly and energetically as the days went by.

A program of expression through theater
We tried expressive games using our bodies and voices, and created simple plays in groups. We experienced the joy of expressing our own thoughts and working together with friends to create a single work.

University student-led support
Students from Professor Seguchi's seminar took on the role of supporting the children in brainstorming and practicing with them, putting themselves in their shoes. They contributed to creating an environment where the children could feel safe and confident in trying their hand at expression while fostering their initiative.

On the final day, each group presented a captivating play that showcased their individuality, bringing the entire event to a close amidst warm applause.

Our university will continue to provide various experiential opportunities in collaboration with government and local communities to support the growth of children who will lead the next generation, and will promote initiatives to give back to the community what students have learned.
