Faculty of Health and Nutrition offers the 'Mirai Step Program,' which supports students in achieving their future dreams and goals, in addition to obtaining the national registered dietitian qualification. Depending on their interests and goals, students choose to study in three fields: 'Health Education,' 'Medical Nutrition,' and 'Food Development,' enhancing their expertise and practical skills while envisioning a career that suits them.
This time, as part of the collaborative work exercise conducted in the "Food Development Program" for third-year students, we performed an experiment analyzing food components using HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography).
HPLC is an analytical instrument used to examine various components in food in detail. It is widely used by food manufacturers and research institutions, and is known as one of the important technologies supporting product development and quality control. Some students also pursue careers related to the analysis of food components.
In this experiment, students actually operated an HPLC to measure the amount of vitamin C in soft drinks and investigated whether the amount of vitamin C indicated on the ingredient label was similar to the actual amount. Through this experiment, the students learned knowledge and skills that are necessary in real-world situations.
At Faculty of Health and Nutrition, we value learning that looks beyond simply obtaining a registered dietitian qualification, but also considers your future beyond that. Based on our university philosophy, "STUDY FOR LIFE (learning for life)," we support each individual in realizing the future they envision.
