[Faculty of Global Nursing] Conducted "Nursing Management and Leadership Training" for senior nursing managers in Egypt.

On September 22nd and 23rd, as part of a JICA program, Faculty of Global Nursing was asked to conduct a "Nursing Management and Leadership Training" program for senior nursing managers in Egypt. This training was conducted with the aim of learning about trends in Japanese health and medical policies and nursing practices, as well as hospital-community collaboration, in order to improve health support, disease prevention, and maternal and child health, in light of the changes in health, medical, nursing, and welfare policies in Egypt.

In Egypt, while cesarean section births have increased dramatically over the past 20 years and have become the norm in recent years, a policy shift occurred six months ago. The president now encourages natural childbirth, and the costs of a first natural birth are fully subsidized. A major challenge is how to change public attitudes. Against this backdrop, faculty members from Faculty of Global Nursing gave lectures in English on the following topics during this training program.

• The history and current state of perinatal care in Japan
Japan's healthcare system facing a declining birthrate and aging population
• Practical aspects of neonatal care in the NICU (developmental care and minimal handling)
• Prenatal exercises to promote a smooth delivery

In addition, an exchange meeting was held with the student-run international exchange club "Global Circle," where lively discussions took place, providing a valuable opportunity to deepen mutual understanding.
