Eligibility to apply

Anyone who meets any of the following criteria:

  • Foreign nationals only, who meet any of the requirements from 1 to 5 and also 6 to 7
  • Those who hold a master's degree or a professional degree, or who are expected to receive a master's degree or a professional degree by March 2025
  • Those who have received a master's degree or a professional degree equivalent from abroad, or who are expected to receive such a degree by March 2025
  • Those who have completed correspondence courses offered by a foreign school in Japan and have been awarded a degree equivalent to a master's degree or a professional degree, or who are expected to be awarded such a degree by March 2025.
  • Those who have completed a course of study at an educational institution in Japan that is positioned in the school education system of a foreign country as having a graduate school course of study in that country and that is separately designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and have been awarded a degree equivalent to a master's degree or a professional degree, or those who are expected to be awarded such a degree by March 2025.
  • A person designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology
    (Ministry of Education Notification No. 118, September 1, 1989 - For admission to graduate schools, those who are deemed to have academic ability equal to or greater than that of a master's degree holder)
  • Those who have passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Test N1 or have a score of 260 or more on the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (Japanese) <Foreigners residing in Japan (overseas) only>
    However, even if your Japanese language ability is insufficient, Dean may approve your application depending on the content of your studies.
  • For the second period, only those who have a "Student" status of residence under the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act can apply.

Applicants should gather the following documents, place them in the envelope provided by our university, and send them by mail or in person.

  • Fill out the required information on each card, and on the back of the admission ticket, attach a 323 yen stamp and write your name and return address. Submitted papers will not be returned. Papers written in either Japanese or English must be translated into Japanese and submitted together with the original.

  • Regarding the documents to be submitted, please make a copy of the required number of copies of “6. Summary of Master’s Thesis, etc.” and submit each copy attached with a paperclip or similar.
  • 身体に障害のある者(視力・聴力・肢体不自由)で、受験に際して特別の配慮を必要とする場合は事前にご相談のうえ、出願時に「受験特別措置願」(様式自由)を提出してください。また、出願後の不慮の事故等により負傷者が受験時の特別措置を希望する場合は早めに教務課大学院入試係0798-32-5009まで申し出てください。
  • Application documents once submitted will not be returned for any reason.

(2) How to apply

  • If you are sending by mail, please send by registered mail to the address below during the application period. (Must arrive by this date)
  • If you are submitting your application in person, please submit it to the address below between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm on weekdays (Monday to Friday) during the application period.

Announcement of results

A notification of the result will be sent to the candidate by post on the day the results are announced.
1st period: Friday, November 15, 2024 (not the arrival date)
2nd period: Tuesday, February 25, 2025 (not the arrival date)

  • The results will not be posted on campus or announced on the web. In addition, we will not be able to answer any inquiries regarding the results by phone or other means.

  • Graduated from the Master's program at Otemae University Graduate School.continuationThose who proceed to the doctoral program will be exempt from the entrance fee.
  • Initial admission fees (admission fee and tuition fees) will not be refunded once they have been paid.
    However, tuition fees, excluding the admission fee, will be refunded only if you submit a written request to Academic Affairs Division to decline admission by Friday, March 21, 2025 (must arrive by this date) and follow the required procedures.
  • In the final year of the program, an additional 10,000 yen will be charged as a lifetime alumni association fee in addition to tuition fees.
    * This fee will not be charged to graduates Otemae University or Otemae Women's University, or students completing the Master's program at Otemae University University Graduate School.

(1) Purpose of use

The personal information provided during the application and enrollment procedures will be used for conducting entrance examinations, notifying results, enrollment procedures, and other related tasks.

(2) Handling policy

  • The personal information you provide will be handled with strict confidentiality. In addition, it will not be used for any purpose other than the above-mentioned "purpose of use."
  • We may outsource the handling of the personal information you have provided. In that case, we will select a contractor that is deemed to handle personal information appropriately and ensure that it is managed appropriately.
