Admission for foreign research students

Eligibility to apply

Anyone who meets any of the following criteria:

  • Only those who do not have Japanese nationality who fall under any of the above items 1 to 4 and also meet the requirement 5.
  • University graduates
  • Graduate school graduates
  • Those who have completed 16 years of school education abroad
  • Those who are recognized by the graduate school as having academic ability equal to or greater than that of university graduates
  • Those who have a student status of residence under the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act

Selection Process

Document screening and interview
However, for applicants residing outside of Japan, selection may be conducted by methods other than face-to-face.

Application Procedure

  • Research Student Admission Application Form (specified by the university)
  • Graduation certificate or completion certificate from last school attended
  • Academic transcript from last school attended
  • Health certificate (specified by the university)
  • Post-enrollment research plan (specified by the university)
  • Examination fee: 10,000 yen (please pay at the university office or by bank transfer)
  • Certificates etc. listed in 1 to 4 must have been issued within the last three months.
  • In addition, please attach a Japanese translation to any certificates or other documents written in a language other than Japanese.

If you are an international student, please also submit the following documents:

  • Please submit the following certificates:

    • Copy of your passport (the page showing your photo, name, status of residence, and period of stay)
    • Copy of residence card (both sides)
  • Contact information notification form (specified by the university)

How to Apply

Please bring it to the university office (Academic Affairs Division) or mail it.

  • If you are submitting by mail, please send your application documents by express registered mail to the address below within the application period (must arrive by this date).
  • If you are submitting your application in person, please submit it to the application submission address listed below between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM on weekdays (Monday to Friday) during the application period.

Announcement of results

A notification of the results will be sent to the candidate by express mail on the day the results are announced.
1st period: Friday, November 14, 2025 (not the arrival date)
2nd period: Posted on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 (not the arrival date).

  • The results will not be posted on campus or announced on the web. In addition, we will not be able to answer any inquiries regarding the results by phone or other means.
